Mumbai Indians
unveil star studded campaign
Ropes in Hrithik Roshan and ties up with
Yash Raj Films' ''Tashan''
Mumbai, April 14, 2008 :
Mumbai Indians, which has a star studded
cricketing line up led by Masterblaster
Sachin Tendulkar, has
now launched its mega campaign with none
other than Bollywood Superstar Hrithik
Roshan.
Mumbai Indians, who have specially branded
their Fan Club as 'MI Paltan', have used
Hrithik in their promotional advertisement
campaign as a die-hard fan who espouses
the true character and values of a Mumbai
Indian. In this film, created by Piyush
Pandey, Executive Chairman and National
Creative Director, O&M, we
see Hrithik singing the theme song 'Duniya
Hila Denge' (Let's rock the world) as
he leads the MI Paltan in support of the
legendary captain, Sachin Tendulkar and
the team.
Hrithik, who had recently undergone a
painful knee surgery, did not for a moment
hesitate to come out in support of his
Mumbai team. The film reflects his sincerity
and professionalism when he does his graceful
steps to keep pace with the pulsating
track composed by Tapas Relia
and written by Piyush Pandey,
Hrithik later said "Mumbai Indians
has come a long way as facilitators in
achieving a common dream of an Indian
World Champ. The 20:20 tournament will
see not only some of the best players
in the country coming here to play - it
will be much, much more than that. The
genius that abounds a plenty in our youth
if properly streamlined will pay dividends
not only to our society but also to our
country.
"The Mumbai Indians now in its embryonic
stage is a thrust in that direction. Our
young talent led by Sachin Tendulkar will
enter into the world of cricketing sports
with high spirits, sparkle in their eyes
and fire in the belly to simply achieve
greater heights and touch the stars,"
Hrithik added.
Admiring Hrithik's performance, R
Balachandran, Director of Indiawin Sports,
promoters of the Mumbai Indians,
said "Hrithik has captured the intensity
of Mumbai's cricket lovers from the fierce
competitiveness of gully cricket to the
passion of young professionals to the
exuberance of the youth. The leadership
qualities of the Mumbai Indians, encapsulated
in the iconic Sachin, find a true echo
in Hrithik's intensity and power. Powerful
performances, on-screen and on the cricket
field is what people will see from the
Mumbai Indians. And the Mumbai Indians
look forward to the support of all their
fans at the grounds to cheer them as they
step out to win for Mumbai".
In true Mumbai style, this marketing
campaign is like a multi starrer blockbuster.
The marketing arm of Mumbai Indians have
done a timely and appropriate tie up with
Yash Raj's next big release - 'Tashan'
which stars Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan,
Kareena Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. This entitles
the Mumbai Indians to run a special promo
featuring the four stars in conjunction
with four cricketing stars of the Mumbai
Indians - Sachin, Sanat, Harbhajan and
Robin.
Commenting on the marketing campaign,
Kaushik Roy - Director, IndiaWin
Sports, said, ''Coinciding with
our sale of tickets, we have a high decibel
campaign that treats this tournament like
a mega event that will shake up people
to show their true team loyalty. We are
doing a 360 degree campaign with innovative
promotions and tie ups that we would deploy
for any large consumer campaign. This
is only the beginning, there will be more
to follow.''
